Also, Helstrom tossed up some Dutch revolution paintings in a thread about Marienburg a while back and my mind started spinning with the idea of an army whose colors were found mostly in their plumage and sashery- white shirts and black-brown shorts for all, with the colors found more on shields and banners. Thanks for the The reason for my testing in the first place was actually at my wife's prompting she just doesn't like quartered schemes from a fashion perspective (no complaints from me- this is the girl who asked me the other day, "Which Warhammer armies do you like? I like Dwarves, Goblins, and Tomb Kings" If she wants me to paint them pink, I will, and thank my lucky stars that she's encouraging and not hindering me). So I'll be looking at Middenland, Talabheim, and Altdorf. Since then I have remembered that I hate painting yellow and will probably repaint the yellow with white. They are mixed between quartered, split left/right or top/bottom. There is no set color scheme to any of the uniforms. The idea that I had in mind is that I could later put the troops into a Talabecland Army (red and yellow) or an Altdorf Army (blue and red) without them looking too out of place. Obviously the blue and yellow are the Nordland colors with the red being the local lord's color. When I started on my Nordland troops I wanted a little flexibility to be able to drop them into another themed army at a later point in time. Obviously, some troops can be dropped into any army pistoliers, knights, flaggelants, etc. Of course that may change again at some point in I've been toying around with "modular" army schemes, trying to get the most flexibility on a budget.

others, take a look at this thread: Quite a few members prefer to mix the schemes within each regiment some quartered some split left/right, some split top/bottom. Hmmm.maybe we need to do an art contest at some point.)Īs for quartered colored schemes vs. (We have quite a few talented artists here. My other attempts to figure out a good paint scheme, by province:

In my attempt to figure out which colors looked best, I drew up a template and played around with my markers for a while (inspired by the lizardman paint assistant on the gw site). I spent some of last week going through a crisis about what province my army should be painted.
